GOFAL'S Swansea and Neath Port Talbot service user involvement

Gofal Swansea and N.P.T run a service user involvement coffee morning at Morriston Community Centre once a month to help tackle isolation and loneliness. We also hold an annual summer day trip and a Christmas lunch.

It is an opportunity to integrate the people we support back into their local community. We provide therapeutic activities such as arts & crafts, cake decorating and educational talks. All of which has had a positive effect on the person's mental health and well-being.

Friendships have also been established through our events. In some cases, our community coffee mornings are the only days out the people we support have to look forward to. We also try to provide lunch at our events.

Our service user events help to promote and increase independence for the people we support. Attendance at our events reduces anxiety by providing a safe place to meet other individuals and share experiences.

Past service users also attend our events as a way of keeping in touch with Gofal and letting us know how they are and what they have achieved recently.

The money we pay to hire the community centre goes back into the centre itself and is spent by the community centre committee. Over all it benefits a large amount of individuals of all ages and needs. Our annual summer trip and Christmas dinner benefits local businesses. For the last two years we have used the Deer's Leap in Morriston for our Christmas dinner.

We are holding a sponsored walk On Friday July 27th 2018 from the Junction Cafe, Blackpill to the 360 Cafe, Mumbles Road and back which is approximately 4 miles in distance.
