We fund research and raise awareness of MND to help anyone touched by MND.

Story

Having hit the landmark age of 50 in 2017 one of our team thought it about time he should start ticking off a few bucket list items.

The trek up Kilimanjaro was one such, but with his wife not falling over herself to join him, he asked two long term colleagues if they would like to, which they jumped at.

For clarity, this trip is fully self-funded, all funds raised will go the 'My Name'5 Doddie Foundation' (and yes, that should be a 5).

Early in 2017 during one of the Six Nation games we saw Doddie Weir (Scotland and British Lions lock) and his two sons interviewed by Gabby Logan prior to the game.

He was announcing the charitable works he was about to undertake on behalf of Motor Neurone Disease, having recently being diagnosed with such.

Talking about a disease for which there is no cure and for which the treatment has seen little or no advance in decades, if you saw it you could not have been other than humbled by his attitude.

Like the vast majority of people we then watched 80 minutes of rugby and carried on with our lives.

Sometimes things are meant to be and in February of this year we attended a charity dinner at which Doddie was the guest speaker.

Obviously well briefed, for 30 minutes he tore relentlessly into the senior management of the organising business and had hundreds of people in stitches.

For maybe 30 seconds he mentioned MND and the works he was currently doing.

Realising that our walk could be used to achieve something useful we approached Doddie per the above, photo, who was delighted to accept our support.

(Mike was cycle training in Majorca, hence the action shot, and his absence from the photo).

In the year the world lost Stephen Hawking to MND the cause seemed particularly appropriate.

Doddie's website confirms £400K already raised which we would like to think we can help to push past half a million.

Between the Gooding Group and three of our key clients we have so far raised £60K.

Whilst we will continue to get direct contributions from our client and supplier base, we have also now opened this page somewhat late in the day for friends and family who have asked how they can support.

Regards

Lloyd, Ashley and Mike
