Story

Hello!

I’m really excited to tell you that I have been selected to volunteer in Nepal with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) on an International Citizen Service (ICS) placement.

VSO aims to create long-term, sustainable change, by empowering some of the most marginalised people in the world to take charge of their own development. They work in communities that have specifically asked for support from VSO. https://www.vsointernational.org/

I will be volunteering in Nepal for just under 3 months from January, living with a host family in the Dhading region and working with a team of both Nepalese and UK volunteers. I will be working in the vicinity of Salyantar, on an education project. This will include work in primary and secondary schools, and local community groups, for example helping to organise extracurricular activities, supporting students in improving their reading and English skills and working with a local women’s group, as well as much more!

The first challenge I have been given is to raise £1500 towards the work of VSO and their ICS partners. My trip has already been funded by the UK government through ICS, so the money I raise goes directly to the charity.

This is a really great opportunity for me to help others, whilst hopefully gaining some really eye-opening and unique experiences for myself as well!

Any support that you can offer me on my journey will be so greatly appreciated – whether that be through donations, sharing my page or prayer!

I am currently planning my fundraising - for example running my first half marathon and some bake sales - and will be updating it on this page and on my Facebook page (https://fb.me/GraceinNepal), so stay tuned for more!

Thank you so much,

Grace 💛
