Story
The reason I am running the Great North Run started out back in August 2011. I realised that my health was really not top of my agenda and I kept looking at photos of myself and feeling ashamed. I started running on the 15th August 2011 and lasted 8 minutes. From there I made it my personal aim to be able to run for 1hour. By December 2011 I was a seasoned runner, I'd shed 4 stone and was runing 4 to 5 times a week between 7-12km.
Through willpower I was proving to myself that I could achieve so much and it was time to set myself a bigger goal. As a long time fan of the Great North Run I was chancing it when I put in my ballot entry and was genuinely in shock when I received the congratulatory email!
I was then asked which charity I would be running for, and I had no doubt or question in my heart who I wanted to run for. As a teacher at St Paul's Catholic College I teach, mentor and support many students who were friends with Angus Rowland. They inspire me, I inspire them, they have shown such courage and bravery and they tell me such incredible stories about Angus. Over the year I have seen the community work with the charity and felt that it was only right that I contribute in my own way.
I am running for Angus, but I am also running for Elizabeth, Jonathan, Edward, Ollie, Jake, Kyle, Patrick, Paddy, Seb, Tom, Ross and so many other inspiring students at my school (if I had space I would list so many more....)
Any support would be incredible.
Thank You
