Story
For years, we were told that Great, Great Aunt Peggy was a driver for the Wrens during WW2. It was only after decades had passed that we found out she worked as a code breaker at Bletchley Park. The work that was carried out at Bletchley Park is said to have shortened the war by 2 years, saving up to 2 million lives.
Great, Great Aunt Peggy worked on the Colossus computer, the world’s first programmable electronic computer, breaking codes written by the German High Command. Great, Great Aunt Peggy even decoded a message from Adolf Hilter!
We would like to raise the money needed to sponsor a brick in the Bletchley Park Codebreaker’ Wall to commemorate Great, Great Aunt Peggy’s war effort. To do this we will attempt to read as many names as possible from the Bletchley Park Role of Honour. A total of ten thousand names!
The people who worked at Bletchley Park weren’t allowed to talk about their work so we have decided we will say their names aloud!
Many thanks,
Imogen, George and Henry
