Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This mission (Gurkha200kmRunPerth) initially started as a commemoration of 200 years of the Gurkhas service back in April coinciding with the 100 years of Gallipoli landing, which also involved thousands of Gurkhas, by Ex-Corporal 14770 Kiran GURUNG, who served in the Gurkha Contingent of the Singapore Police Force (his father served in the 2nd Kind Edward VII's Own Gurkha Rifles and his maternal grandfather served in the 1st King George's Own Gurkha Rifles). Kiran completed the 200 km Run from the ANZAC Park in Bunbury to Kings Park in Perth in his combat uniform in 2 days with the support of Ex-Captain Ian Blevin  (7th Duke of Edinburgh's Own Gurkha Rifles). Almost $8,000 was raised for the Gurkha Welfare Trust (www.gwt.org.uk) which supports the ex-Gurkhas and their dependents living in poverty and distress.

When the Nepal earthquake occurred on the same day the mission was accomplished (25th April), Kiran decided to do another 200 km by doing 5 marathons in 5 months in his full combat uniform and kit (weighing approximately 12 kg) for the Nepal Earthquake Response Fund of the Gurkha Welfare Trust. (https://www.gwt.org.uk/news/earthquake-appeal). In addition to those marathons he has completed various other runs, all in his combat uniform.
