Immunodeficiency UK is a charity supporting individuals and families affected by a primary and secondary immunodeficiency in the UK. The charity’s day-to-day operations are funded entirely by donations and grants. They aim to help ensure that those affected by immunodeficiencies have the knowledge needed to manage their condition effectively and to ensure that their health needs are understood and addressed by those involved in policy and delivery of healthcare.

I was diagnosed with Common Variable Immunodeficiency at age of 14 after repeated spells in hospital, being unwell with pneumonia, collapsed lung and bronchiectasis over a period of 1-2 years. Through weekly injections, this chronic condition is manageable and I'm able to live a pretty much normal life. However, this was brought into sharp focus during Covid, being on the shielding list. Not everyone with conditions like mine will have the support around them they need making the work of Immunodeficiency UK important. 

To that end, I'm running the London Marathon in aid of Immunodeficiency UK and I've spent what feels like most of my free time this summer running so that I'm ready for the big day!
