Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know physical activities are not my strong point, and although I would love to raise thousands of pounds for the Focus trust even Dan would never have expected me to do anything too daring, like a sky dive or a marathon! It’s been 22 months since we lost Dan and I (as many of you do) think about him and miss him terribly every day, some days are much harder than others but I can still look at things in a positive way.
Because of this I want to do a little fundraising for the Cheltenham Oncology Centre. I am having my hair chopped off and will be donating it to The Little Princess Trust, who will make a wig for a child going through cancer treatment ( I can hear Dans dry humour ribbing me about the ginger hairs!!). I’ve been growing it for just over two years now and had always intended to donate it. Any money raised and seriously I know this is no massive life changing thing I’m doing .... will go towards the new fundraising appeal to install sky ceilings in the radiotherapy treatment rooms.
What’s a sky ceiling I hear you ask! Well the treatment rooms usually have no natural light and they always look very clinical and not very inspiring or comforting for someone going through tough treatment and where you may have to spend an hour or more lay on their back looking at a ceiling. It’s hard to explain the feelings these rooms give you unless you’ve been in one and been through the fight. The aim is to transform these treatment rooms by using sky ceilings which give the impression of natural light. I’ve posted some more info and a couple of pictures below so please have a read.
I appreciate we are getting towards Christmas and pennies are always tight but I hope to raise £100 and hand it over to the charity just after Christmas. The second anniversary is fast approaching and however much I would like to turn and run in the other direction, I’d like to say we’ve done another small thing that can make a big difference to others who are going through the same fight that we did.
Love to you all.
