Story
For years I have used exercise - particularly running - to look after my mental health. It helps me make sense of my thought patterns and understand the link between physical and mental health. It makes me feel free.
But this isn’t the case for everyone. For women who have experienced multiple disadvantages, there are many barriers to exercise, including safety, lack of finances, confidence and the extensive impact of trauma.
I believe exercise is a fundamental human right and has a vast number of benefits. That’s why I’m running to raise money for theMOVEMENT charity, who work to break down these barriers and enable every woman the freedom to exercise. They are a really small charity who started in south London in 2020, and your donations will go towards:
- Training instructors in trauma-informed exercise
- Providing trauma-informed fitness sessions for women
- Exercise clothing and footwear needed
I have never ran a race before (or ran this far!) and would really appreciate your support.
