At the begining of the season HCOSC chose to support CRY UK charity to help raise awareness and funds. This is a charity close to the hearts ofmany of our members as a local family were affected by it when their 15 year old son died.

Josh Fell died on 9th June 2011 from SADS (Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome), aged just 15 years old, after playing football on Hornsea School field with friends. Two of Josh's friends, both aged 14, tried to resuscitate him but it was too late, Josh had already died. Josh was fit and healthy with no warning signs or symptoms. Since losing Josh his family, parents Rich and Donna and younger sister Jasmine, have worked nonstop promoting awareness of this condition and have since become CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) representatives for East Yorkshire. They have also been raising money for CRY to fund heart screening sessions which are not available on the NHS. Screenings are open to 14 to 35 year olds and the next screening date will be announced shortly by Donna and Rich.
