We fight for a world without iron overload to prevent serious illness and save lives

Story

Here at Rowlinsons Solicitors we chose Haemochromatosis UK as our charity of the year. This is a charity that is very close to home, with two of my colleagues being diagnosed with the condition. However it is still one which is vastly under-diagnosed, and we are working with this charity to raise as much awareness as we can.

Haemochromatosis is a genetic disorder that causes the body to absorb too much iron, which causes painful symptoms such as arthritis, liver disorders, diabetes, chronic fatigue and neurological disorders. Unfortunately, even though the condition is one of the most common genetic disorders and is found in 1 in 200 people through carrying out a simple blood test, only 1 in 5000 people will ever be diagnosed.

With the support of Rowlinsons Solicitors, I will complete the Great North Swim in June, which is a 1 mile swim in Lake Windermere. The Lake is 219 feet deep and 11 miles long. Apparently, it even has its very own Loch Ness Monster; 30ft 'Bownessie'.

Now lets raise funds for this charity and more importantly, raise as much awareness as possible!
