Story
Forgotten. Forsaken. Erased.
According to the UN, the armed conflict in Yemen has resulted in the largest humanitarian crisis in the world with 80 per cent of the population in need of humanitarian assistance, including more than 12 million children. The UN has warned that if the war continues, famine could engulf Yemen in the next three months, killing 13 million people.
With the rapid spread of COVID-19, Yemen is facing an emergency within an emergency. There is a dire shortage of sanitation and clean water. Few health facilities are functioning, with many lacking basic equipment like masks and gloves, let alone oxygen and other life-saving essential supplies. Many health workers are receiving no salaries or incentives, and 10.2 million children don't have access to basic healthcare. Yemen is on the verge of extinction.
To these ends, in the next few weeks I will be training to complete a 10K run with my 9 month- old baby in his pram, and aiming to raise £4000. The money will go to Noor Orphans Fund who are collaborating with WF-Aid to help equip quarantine centres in Yemen with essential items such as blankets, thermometers, pillows, masks, hand sanitisers etc.
Any donation will go some way to help the plight of victims ravaged by this 'forgotten war' .
Thanks again!
Love from,
Hajir and baby Younis
