It's time to challenge myself and hopefully raise funds for the Cardiff University Neuroscience and Mental Health research Institute. 

For some years now I have had a keen interest in Neuroscientific insights and their impact on human behaviour within the context of Leadership and personal effectiveness.

I personally see that there is a lack of true empathy as mental illness is, in my opinion, not well understood and there is work to do to increase awareness, so to have the opportunity to fundraise on behalf of the Institute, being part of the Alumni,  and #TeamCardiff it is my pleasure (not sure I will think this on the day of the race!) to support the cause.

The Research Institute's vision is to be an internationally-recognised centre of excellence in the field of neuroscience as applied to mental health.

Its mission is to drive the development of new research areas aimed at translating the fundamental discoveries made by Cardiff neuroscientists and geneticists in the major psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders into a greater understanding of disease mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

Their work spans the lifespan from childhood to old age and includes neurodevelopmental disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism, the major adult psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease and Parkinson's disease.
