Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am swimming the English Channel Solo at age 16 on the days between 1st- 8th Agust 2014. I am swimming for the MS society in Stockport and Manchester. The reason for this is because my mum was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis before i was born. My mum's strength and determination will be the driving force when training or the big swim gets tough.
Swimming the English Channel is respected world wide and the swim can be betwen 20-40 miles depending on tides and weather. During my Solo swim i will be faced with weather changes, tide, jellyfish, ferries.
Training history :
Winter swimming in tempretures as low as 0 degrees in the sea, lake Windermere.
After winter swimming the water did not start getting warm until April/May. This restricted me from completing swims longer than 3 hours open water and training was based in the pool 60% of the time and I was swimming 2-4 hours a day. As the water got warmer I was spending a lot more time in the water outside in Windermere, Derwent lake, Sea, Birmingham and were I train frequently Salford Quays.
British Long Distance Swimming Association Champion of Champions 1st junior and the 1st junior girl to complete in 3 years.
Two way Windermere.
Regular 6 hour swims.
1-10 hour swims at weekend.
1-3 hours week days.
