Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

15th May -I've done it!! Just completed the walk this afternoon!!

Please help me exceed my target of £3,000 which, through Cancer Research UK, will help fund projects aimed at understanding the causes of oesophageal cancer and finding better ways of treating it.  It is one of the hardest cancers to treat and 150 people are diagnosed with it each week.

My younger sister died of this cancer three years ago.  She was an outdoor type of person.  She walked, she cycled, she ran marathons and led a healthy life-style.  But she never walked Hadrian's Wall, so I am doing it for her.  My motivation is my memory of her bravery and a desire to make a difference for other people.

I have never walked 86 miles before or asked for sponsorship.  I have the books and the maps and am getting out and into training as much as possible AND NOW I'VE DONE IT!!  The effort was worth it.  With me on the walk to encourage me were my friend Carol and my sons Andy and Chris.

Thank you!  Through a special arrangement, the funds raised on this page will be used to help Cancer Research UK to support their oesophageal research portfolio.
