Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. My friend and colleague, Andrew Prismall, wouldn’t be with us today if a young man hadn’t died and his family hadn’t agreed to donate his organs. Andrew was the grateful recipient of a new liver for which he is thankful every day.
Medical and emotional support is available for recipients, but historically was very poor for the families of donors. Hence the birth of Donor Family Network – an organisation which supports those brave family members who, at their very darkest hour and amid such incredible emotional turmoil, have taken the decision to enable their loss to save the lives of up to 8 recipients of their loved ones organs. Eight complete strangers crying out for a chance to survive.
The DFN emblem which you can see on my page is the “Forget Me Not” flower, because a donor patient never forgets the gift of life, and the butterfly to signify their new life thanks to the amazing strength and generosity of others.
Andrew is a staunch support of DFN and in his role as Chairman of IPSA (the Association of Independent Personal Search Agents) he introduced the organisation to the rest of the Executive Board who then agreed to adopt DFN as our chosen charity.
In order to raise funds, I will be taking part in the South Coast Challenge over August Bank Holiday weekend. This involves walking 100km from Eastbourne to Arundel, taking in Beachy Head, Seven Sisters, Devils Dyke and part of the South Downs Way. The challenge starts on the Saturday morning and the aim is to keep going through the night, finishing on Sunday morning.
New boots have been purchased and training is underway! Please support me in this challenge and help to raise funds to support all those brave parents, children, siblings and wider families who have lost loved ones and allowed their organs and tissue to be donated to those in need.
