This is it - we are off to Amman tomorrow (23rd April). 

Its been a long build up - we were meant to be going last year but Covid delayed things. 

So what am I doing? 

Trekking 100km through the desert to Petra.  Sounds simple when you write it down - but there will be mountains and ravines (and I am not good with heights), heat (another thing I'm not great with), and wild camping with 34 other people to contend with. 

Why am I doing it? 

Being diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in March 2018 meant that I spent a lot of time in various departments at Salisbury District Hospital.  Alongside the great care that I received I was also very grateful for the 'extras' that were supported by the Stars Appeal - from the Breast Unit itself, the extra CT scanner to the free wifi that I took great advantage of!

At points during my treatment walking to the end of the road felt challenging but when I heard about this trek I wanted to do it - I could raise funds for the Stars Appeal so that others can benefit from their amazing work at Salisbury District Hospital, and push myself out of my comfort zone on many fronts - the trek itself, meeting new people, wild camping, fundraising and doing media to support it (this was unexpected!) .
