Story

My name is Helen Carter and I have Alopecia!

Last September I found my first bald patch. Since then I have lost 70% of my hair, and my hair is still shedding dramatically daily.

Dermatologists have told me that the traumatic delivery of Martha has triggered an otherwise dormant autoimmune disease. I have tried lotions & potions, diets & shampoos but the bottom line is there is no known cure for this.

I am fortunate I have Alopecia Areata, so I am losing my hair gradually from just my scalp (not eyebrows, eyelashes etc). I also have significant re-growth on some of my bald patches which is very encouraging. Despite this I have recently invested in my first hairpiece which has boosted my self confidence tremendously (thank you ‘Pink’ in Kingstanding for this).

I have, at times, found this condition extremely challenging and very upsetting. I didn't realise how much I valued my hair until it was gone!

I wish to raise money for Alopecia UK because they provide advice and support for Alopecia suffers and I truly value the encouragement and kind words I have personally received - positive thinking makes all the difference!!

Please dig deep and show ME your love!!!!!
