I have not ran since I was at High School. I had this mad idea, typically with a glass of wine in my hand, that I could complete the Great North Run this year. I have always wanted to do it and now I can make the time to train properly. I won’t under estimate how hard this will be for me to achieve but knowing I am raising money for a brilliant charity will keep me going.

I chose Cygnus because the staff have become part of my extended family. They have been incredibly supportive of me since I started a placement for my degree course in counselling five years ago. I continue to volunteer three hours per week and recently have been undertaking associate work with 14 - 18 years old. They are a charity where every penny raised is spent wisely. Cygnus continue to struggle financially and will close unless funding is raised.
