I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer April 23 2015. I was referred to the Victoria Breast Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital after finding a lump in my breast. I arrived in the morning, I had an examination, a mammogram. Then an ultrasound, at this point a biopsy was taken.
I then went in to see a senior Breast Care nurse, she told me straight away that they were 99% certain the tumor they found (hidden behind cysts) was Cancer. I was told to come back in 2 hours for confirmation.
I returned and there I met my amazing Breast Surgeon Miss Bramley. That was the start of OUR cancer journey. The reason for telling my story is to point out how fantastic this one stop unit is.
This unit helps patients throughout their treatment, physically & mentally. Myself and Allan would love to help raise money for link4pink (via pennine accute hospitals charity) as it supports this unit and helps provide excellent patient care and great facilities. Although my immediate treatment is over I will still be attending the Victoria Unit for the foreseeable future.
