We have decided to undertake the Sheffield Half Marathon to raise money for the Danny Porter Foundation.  Dan Porter MBE established the foundation following his diagnosis with cancer and subsequent treatment, the foundation now supports people living with cancer or requiring brain surgery.  Dan has inspired many however personally he has had a massive positive influence on both myself and Emily in the early stages of our careers as our Head of Sport Services at Sheffield Hallam University. Heartbreakingly Dan recently lost his battle to the disease and we want to raise money for his foundation to help celebrate and continue his legacy .

Whilst Emily completed Sheffield Half Marathon last year and is aiming for a Paula Radcliffe like finishing time. My story could not be more different; I stopped playing competitive sport in 2014 and got very unfit, I could barely run 3 miles this time last year however everyone has to start somewhere and now I’m planning to storm (slowly jog/run) around the very hilly 13 mile Sheffield Half Marathon route!

Having finished in 2 hours 16 minutes (Emily finished in 2 hours 5 minutes) I am wanting to continue raising money for this fantastic cause and have now decided to take on Leeds Half as well.
