Story
Some of you might be aware already but for others that are not, I have decided to take on a big challenge next month for charity – I am going on a ‘Last Degree’ ski expedition to the North Pole, funded personally.
This will incur traversing the polar ice pack across extremely adverse conditions, travelling for 8-10 hours a day over nine days pulling a sledge with all my own provisions for camping on the ice.
Hopefully I and the team will cover between 12-15 miles a day on cross country skis.
I am travelling with 5 in total (who will have to put up with my snoring!!).
No matter how much training I have undertaken for this trip I still cannot train for how cold it is going to be, temperatures can reach -40 degrees.
I am pleased to have decided to raise money for Teens Unite, a brilliant charity working in the UK.
Teens Unite is the only charity in the UK to provide ongoing support to 13-24 year olds fighting cancer from diagnosis through to post-remission. Seven young people are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK and Teens Unite brings them together through workshops and activities so they can spend valuable time with others their age in a similar situation to themselves. The charity helps to rebuild the confidence and self-esteem of those it supports and prevents feelings of isolation during what can be a long and lonely battle. You can find out more about our work here.
100% of monies raised will go to support the charity.
Thank you in advance for your kind donation. Let’s hope I don’t bump into polar bears along the way…
