Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This has been one of the most difficult stories I have had to write, as it is very personal and normally I tend not to reveal too much about my life.
Sadly, in October last year, my very dear friend Trevor died just 6 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. Trevor had been a very close friend for well over 20 years and had been a wonderful support to me and my family especially when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and then again when my son opted to have major brain surgery to treat his trigeminal neuralgia. Thankfully, I now regard myself as a cancer survivor. My son's surgery was also very successful and he remains pain free. Trevor had been my 'rock' on many an occasion, my go-to buddy and the voice of reason!
Last year, The Hi-Jive Team decided to run a charity freestyle dance, but this had not gone beyond the initial discussion stage. When Trevor died I was in total shock and overwhelmed with grief. John and Nick (my lovely Hi-Jive team mates) saw how upset I was and when I suggested that we run the charity event in Trevor;s memory they gave the idea their total backing too.
The reason we chose Eva's Angels is because Trevor was a trustee of this charity which was set up in memory of his own darling grand-daughter, Eva, who lost her battle with a rare child-hood cancer of the brain stem.
