Story
A few years back, to face my inner demons and for my mental well-being, I picked up running for the first time in my life. I am one of those who would shy away from any sort of sports activity in my younger years but one crazy morning just before the lockdown I decided to challenge myself and signed up for my first 10K run which is now scheduled for 25th July 2021. The 10K goal has really helped me stay active during the pandemic as it has forced me to go out and exercise.
For my first running event I have chosen to support Parkinson’s Care and Support UK. I would like to dedicate this run to my late mother who fought this disease for a number of years.
Every hour two people are told they have Parkinson's. It can affect anyone and there is currently no cure. As there is no cure for Parkinson’s, we aim to ensure that people live well for as long as possible with the condition, whilst funding non-pharmaceutical research to help prevent, slow down progression and reverse Parkinson’s. We provide FREE exercise, respite care, neurological physiotherapy, information, advice, support groups and are developing a CBT Helpline to help people with Parkinson's with anxiety and depression.
