Cancer care is something that is very close to my heart: my mum was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer only months after my dad died when I was 10. My family have been very fortunate and she is now fit and well. 

However, without charities like Vine House, the CancerHelp daycare centre in Preston, Lancashire, my mum's and my family's experience of this horrible disease would have been much worse. 

Here's what my mum has to say about the charity:

'Vine House was an oasis of normality  after months of being treated as a patient and a number. Initially Vine House signposted me to other services which I did not know were available.  They put me in touch with Macmillian and with experts who helped me fill in the mass of forms needed to claim various benefits.  
They also provided massage and aromatherapy, lovely experiences when you are feeling so ill. As I started to feel better I also took a class in Tai Chi which was fantastic and a really positive experience. On top of that everyone was friendly and supportive.  It was the place where no one even noticed your lack  of hair. The hospital were brilliant in treating and curing my breast cancer but Vine House massively helped in making the whole experience bearable.' 

Therefore, I want to give something back to this fantastic charity and will raise money by cutting off my hair ( as many of you know, this is a very big deal for me!). 

I also plan to donate my hair to Little Princesses  Trust (a charity which provides wigs for children who undergoing cancer treatment and suffering hair loss).
