Fundraising for Heart Valve Voice UK
Story
In 2019 I underwent surgery to replace my defective Aortic Heart Valve at The Royal Brompton in London. Valve disease is unpleasant to live with and if not identified and dealt with can become fatal. My road to recovery has been undulating but I am now feeling stronger than I have for many years and plan for this to continue for many years to come.
Heart Valve Voice are a charity that promote awareness of heart valve disease, they became aware of my impending surgery early in 2019 and contacted me to offer support. For me it was invaluable to be able to talk to someone who understood, and even now, they continue to check that all is well, and I call or meet up occasionally with Wil Woan their CEO for a chat and to find ways where I can give something back.
Wil offered me the opportunity to be part of their team who in May 2020 were to cycle to Paris on a fundraising event, sadly this had to be cancelled due to current restrictions. So this is my plan.
I will cycle to Paris and back in May.... well in a virtual way. So for 25 days starting on Star Wars day, May 4th, I will ride 25 miles either on the road or on my trainer. 25 in 25 = 625 miles.
I know it is tricky for everybody at the moment but please check down the back of the sofa and the pockets of those old jeans for a couple of quid, for as the saying goes....Every little helps....Thank you
