The Muscle Help Foundation exists to deliver amazing and unforgettable experiences for children and young people with muscular dystrophy, a degenerative muscle wasting disease. Its founder, Michael McGrath, was diagnosed with the disease as a teenager. It didn't stop him pursuing a successful business career, setting up the charity and journeying to both the North and South Poles to raise money for his cause.
Michael is the inspiration for Iain Kennedy, Duncan Berry, Iain Hill-Trevor, Oli Stewart, Jon McIntosh, Cameron Jack and Mark Richardson to attempt the Haute Route in 3 days, half the normal time. First completed on skis in 1911, it is the most famous ski touring itinerary in the Alps and justifiably so. This is the High Alps at their best, beginning near Mont Blanc in Chamonix and finishing in sight of the Matterhorn in Zermatt.
Our 2.5-day trip will involve a journey of 120km, including 6,000 vertical metres of ascent (on skis or with ice axe/crampons) and descent (on skis or abseiling). To succeed, we'll need to be fit and very practiced at ski-ing uphill!
If we do, we hope we'll have earned your money. Many thanks for your support.
