On 17 June Simon, Jack and Iain will join 600+ other participants in the Highland Cross to run 20 miles and cycle 30 miles from Morvich on the west coast across the Highlands via stunning Glen Affric to the even more beautiful Finish Line at Beauly.

They have been training hard (OK Simon has yet to buy a bike but he has been going to spinning classes) and are now finely-tuned athletes and undaunted by thoughts of the distance to be covered and the possibility of rain, wind, bogs, midges, punctures, heatstroke and exhaustion.

Simon enjoyed the Cross so much in 2002 that he decided to wait 15 years before tackling it again.

Jack has yet to experience the delights of running on a Highland "path" for 20 miles and the Aigas Brae near the end of the 30 mile cycle.

Iain has endured the Cross four times previously and has forgotten that in 2014 he decided never to do it again.
