I've never attempted a marathon before. I've never attempted a half marathon before either. I used to run a bit a few years ago but nothing serious. When I started running again last year to get fit I needed some motivation so what better way than signing up for the Edinburgh marathon. That was the easy part. Months of training followed over increasing distances. Not warm-weather training like some Olympic athlete but months of pounding the cold, dark streets of Edinburgh during winter wearing gloves and thermals. 

I'm trying to raise money for Fife Gingerbread and the thought of doing so will definitely help get me to the finish line if (when) I'm struggling. I've been a trustee of Fife Gingerbread for a few years and became the chair in January 2019. We have a great team and work with some amazing families who just need a little help and support. It's been a tough start to the year for the organisation with reduced funding which meant we had to cut back some of our services and make some staff redundant. However, our determination to support lone parent, vulnerable and disadvantaged families in Fife is as strong as ever and with your support, however small, we can continue to do so.
