In memory of Mikey Gillespie

Story

In memory of one of my good friends Mikey I will be running a half marathon in his honour. Mikey was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Tongue in January 2018, this started with what was a small ulcer on his tongue and was believed to have been caught early enough with a curable prognosis. Mikey went through 2 major surgeries, emergency surgery, 65 Radiotherapy sessions, Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy within 18 months. He was robbed of so many of life’s pleasures, however he never complained, he was always determined, positive and hopeful throughout. As cruel as this world is his life was taken by this awful disease on Sunday 4th August 💔
The Mouth Cancer Foundation helps in many ways therefore I have chosen this charity to raise as much as I can with my biggest aim to raise Awareness of Mouth Cancer and if Mikey’s story makes just one person get checked out then I have achieved. Please share far and wide that “if in doubt please get checked out”.
Mikey was an inspiration ❤💔❤ Forever in our hearts ❤️❤️
