We train people & support projects to provide Portage to children in Russia

Story

Our team (the Ten Duffers - Klaus, Deborah, Svend, Nick, Thomas, Louis - replaced at the last minute by Lawrence, Ian, Victor, Joel and Rob) are entering The Great River Race on Saturday 27th September to raise money both for ThePromise and the Royal Marsden Hospital by taking on this slightly mad challenge.  We will be paddling 21 miles from Canary Wharf to Richmond.  We've entered into the veteran category of the race due to the average age of our crew members and we've only had one practice in the boat so we really do need your support.

To make the pain worthwhile, we've chosen to raise money for  thePromise because of the fantastic and truly inspiring work they do with Russian children with disabilities four of us are long term supporters of ThePromise) and the Royal Marsden Hospital in gratitude for the fantsatic care they have given some of our family members in their fight against and recovery from cancer.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Any donation, however small is greatly appreciated.

ThePromise pioneers new ways of supporting children with disabilities in Russia both in the community and within the orphanage system. It introduced the widely acclaimed pre-school education system called Portage into a Russian Baby Home, providing a model of best practice which has now been rolled out into the community and other institutions.
