Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After 30 years of service, I retire from Wiltshire Police on 6th September 2017. In that time I have met and worked with some amazing people and shared both good times and bad. One of the best friends I had was Mike 'Fatboy' Lawless who lost his fight with Cancer in 1999 at the age of just 31 years. I worked with Mike on the same team and we also packed down together in the front row of the Wiltshire Police Rugby team. Following his death, a group of friends set up what would evolve in to an official charity whose main aim is to provide some light at Christmas to children suffering from cancer and now other life threatening illnesses.
Money raised throughout the year is used to purchase Christmas presents for children to help them through these most difficult of times. Initially our work was centred around the area local to Wiltshire but the charity has grown and now provides support and help to children and their families across the whole of the United Kingdom.
Whilst I am sure those closest to me at work will have 'done something' for my leaving, I would ask that everyone considers making even a small donation to this wonderful charity. Please remember to gift aid whatever you can so that the tax rebate can be added to the charitable donation and no donation is too small (or too big) - every penny counts to charities like this!
Thank you,
Ian
