Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Ian Patrick Massey born 17th January 1964.He was Killed while riding his motorbike home on the 29th December 2015.

We all knew something was wrong when he didn't turn up to a party that was arranged at his sister Christine's house because he is never late. Sarah left the party early and checked with the daughters if anyone had seen or heard from him. When no one had, Sarah left home to drive the route he would have taken home. Along the A5 she came upon an accident scene that had caused both directions of the road to be close and instinctively knew it was Ian.

She parked the car to knock on a police car window and told them who she was and Ian had not returned home. The officer was speechless so Sarah said she would sit in the car and wait. Another police car pulled up behind (presumably to check the cars registration plate and see if she was who she claimed to be) a female officer came to talk to her and followed her back to the house address. At the home was Emily her two children, Charlotte and two of Emilys friends. The officers broke the news that the injuries he sustained killed him at the roadside.

Emily and her friend picked up Ian and Sarah's other two daughters and grandchildren to bring them back to the family home where they were also told.  The family then had to ring Ian's family to inform them also.

To say we are all devastated is an understatement.  We feel cheated for all the things we will miss and be unable to share, and gutted that Ian was callously murdered by someone who very clearly should not have been behind the wheel of a car!

It has only been one year for this family after loosing Emily's fiance to suicide.

He has left behind his Wife Sarah, 4 daughters, Emily, Isobel, Imogen and Charlotte.  4 Grandchildren, Freya, Joshua, Jacob and Daniel. 4 of his own siblings Richard, Paul, Catherine and Christine. His Mother Jean, Father David and many Nieces and Nephews.
