Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Michael Carrick, former Manchester United Captain, launched the MCF in 2017 to develop opportunities for children to feel safe, valued and inspired to achieve so that they can make the best of their life and fulfill their full potential. The focus is on young people here in Manchester and Michael's home city of Newcastle. Michael used all of the proceeds from his testimonial match at Old Trafford to start the charity. He and his wife, Lisa, are personally hugely committed to the objectives of the charity.

They work in partnership with community organisations who need help to deliver much needed services for young people by developing innovative campaigns and events to inspire people and galvanise support. In particular, they are supporting:

Carrick's Street Reds - MCF joined forces with Manchester United Foundation and launched this project for young people in his name. This project is particularly pertinent to the work of GMP as we have a strong relationship with the foundation to offer alternatives to young people at risk of becoming involved in crime and anti-social behavior.

Girls Without Borders (GWB) - GWB is about empowering young women, socially excluded from sport, through dance and self-defence. This is a three year partnership with the Lancashire Cricket Foundation that helps girls aged between 11 and 15 years old with a safe place to develop and thrive.

Each year I support a number of fundraising events for which I receive fantastic support. The 10k run is one of a small number that I am personally doing this year.
