Story
As many of you know I lost my sister nearly two years ago and since then running has been an amazing outlet for me as it has forced me to spend time on my own and work through things so I thought I would do even more running and at the same time try and raise some money for a really worthwhile charity to make sure people have people round them when they are going through tricky times. I want as fewer people as possible to have to go through what Mads and the family have had to experience but saying that mental health problems are not going away and we all just need to be kind and supportive all of the time.
On 17 May 2020, I will be running the Hackney Half Marathon for local mental health charity, Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest. In any given year, mental health problems will affect one in four people in the UK, responsible for the largest burden of disease in the country affecting 28% of the population. Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest offer a range of support and services to members of the community who are struggling daily with their mental health. Just £25 could pay for a low-income client with serious enduring mental health issues to attend a Managing Anger and Difficult Emotions group.Grateful for any donations!
