Story
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you may know, I am taking a year between school and University (where I will be studying Geography at Cardiff in 2020) and want to do something worthwhile with my time rather than just travel aimlessly. I think a Raleigh expedition to Nepal is an excellent way to combine travel whilst taking part in a worthwhile project for people less fortunate than we are in the Western world.
The Raleigh project will take place between February and April 2020, in the Gorkha region that was devastated in the 2015 earthquake. Volunteers will be working alongside communities to help build gravity fed water systems and hand washing facilities to positively influence the communities' access to water and sanitation facilities. This will positively affect their future lives and health without the need to rely on electricity and therefore becoming more self-sufficient.
Many people are still rebuilding their lives, their water sources and infrastructure in the rural communities that were damaged. Imagine, these people still have no access to clean water or no access at all.
Any donations will be helping this project directly; I will be self funding my flights, accommodation and living expenses. It goes without saying that I will have an extraordinary experience on a personal level.
Now for the housekeeping! Please consider donating through JustGiving as it is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I am starting my Raleigh fundraising efforts by attempting to climb Mt Killimanjaro in Tanzania in the next couple of weeks, so please consider sponsoring me for this. It is 5,895 meters (19,340 ft) high! I'll keep you posted ...
