Story
Over 5000 people have reportedly been killed following a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal. Striking in the early hours, the earthquake has reduced over 5,000 buildings to rubble and left hundreds of thousands homeless.
Subsequent landslides have rendered many of the impoverished rural areas inaccessible. The full extent of the earthquake's damage has therefore yet to be realised.
Now-homeless families are protecting themselves against the cold and rain with just sheets and blankets. Clean water and food provisions have also become scarce, leaving them in dire need of assistance.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
'Make haste in giving Sadaqah, for calamities cannot pass by it.'

Through rurally-based partners, Ummah Welfare Trust is working to provide victims with tents, clean water and dry food provisions.
Many victims were already impoverished prior to the disaster and now need considerable assistance if they are to recover.
Ummah Welfare Trust has launched an emergency appeal on their behalf, and it needs an emergency response. Support families in Nepal today with your Sadaqah and Lillah donations.
