Story
The school community give an abundance of food to Southwark’s Foodbank each autumn in the Harvest Festival via the charity Pecan.
Foodbanks around the country are facing unprecedented demand during the COVID-19 crisis as many families suddenly face an uncertain financial future and families who are regularly supported through the programme are pushed further into poverty.
Foodbanks are also being forced to close or reduce their service due to a decline in the numbers volunteering to help as well as a depletion in the donations they receive, so support for the school's local foodbank in Southwark is even more pressing now than ever.
Pecan, who host Southwark's Foodbank, also run a number of programmes to support the vulnerable in our community including women’s services and employment support, Hourbank and Peckham Pantry. From 24th March the only service still running at Pecan are the Southwark Foodbank sessions but fundraising continues to support all those in our community who are affected by the pandemic.
