Story
Ten years ago, I was travelling with a small group of school friends in Goa, Southern India. One of those friends, Rory Watson, was an animated, ambitious and high spirited young man, who had an amazing attribute of getting on with anyone he met.
Tragically on the 5th of March 2008, Rory was involved in a motorcycle accident and passed away. This was a challenge beyond all measure, but no more so than for his family.
Rory's mother Melinda is an inspiring person, who in honour of his memory, setup a charity called the Raw Foundation (Raising Another World).
The Raw Foundation helps to educate, engage and empower young people to move towards sustainable consumption and production. Their latest campaign is called ‘Making Waves’ which aims to reduce the amount of oil-based plastic in the environment by raising awareness about the true extent of plastic pollution and its impacts. For more information, see http://rawfoundation.org/making-waves/
I am a huge believer in all that they stand for and have achieved to date. Considering this, I have chosen to support them as my charity of choice by running 100 miles in the Jurassic Coast 100 ultra-marathon this Friday, 1st June.
All financial support, big or small can make an enormous difference for this organisation so please donate and find out more about their work!
Thank you in advance.
