Story
Until April 2019, I hadn't attended church for well over a decade. Once in a blue moon I might show up to the Sunday service, maybe hand out mulled wine at the carol concerts. Suffice to say, I was not interested.
I am not able to pinpoint the moment I broke myself off from God in my late-teens; no concrete event or circumstance presents itself. Perhaps this is for the best, because what I do remember with complete clarity is the relief I felt on my return. I was so exhausted from running away.
Proverbs 24:16 tells us that ‘for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again’. As I now turn towards Christ, I do not doubt that the challenges of living out my faith will be numerous. But having so powerfully felt His providential hand in my life over the past few years, I know I don’t face them alone.
London City Mission works alongside the churches of London to share the gospel with those least likely to hear it: the homeless, people from other faith backgrounds and people living on some of London’s most deprived estates, including older people as well as children and youth.
Working with LCM is my chance to pay forward the charity and mercy I have have come to know these past few years. It would mean a great deal if you could spare £10 to help LCM continue their excellent work.
