Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last October, we lost an incredible person, the most fantastic Mum, Nanny and friend to so many people: Elaine Dawn MacDonald. Mum was kind, loving, selfless, funny and brave. She is and always will be missed by so many people everyday.
Mum spent time at the Butterwick Hospice, Stockton on Tees just before she passed away. Despite a year long battle against this terrible disease Cancer, her time at the hospice was some of her happiest, funniest and pain free moments. She loved watching Finn & Elsie running around constantly moving her electric bed up and down! The warm, caring environment for patients and families provided by the amazing staff cannot be described easily. It is truly inspiring.
Mum never gave up on anything or anyone so I have decided to take on some tough challenges this year to keep her memory alive and help support the Hospice to help them continue to provide patients and families who may need when faces with the journey towards death.
Its been 30 years since we all climbed Ben Nevis as a family (or rather got dragged up by Dad). The Highlands are a special place for the MacDonald's.
On the 15th September 2018 I completed the one of the UKs toughest triathlons, the challenge: a 1.2mile loch swim (45mins), 56mile road cycle (3 hrs) and 13mile (4hrs 40mins) run over the summit of Ben Nevis and back (equivalent to half ironman distance) in a total time of 8hrs 35 mins.
Thank you all for your kind donations and support - they helped me through the months of training, long hours, miles, cold sea swims and means that we can give something back to help a very special place continue to do truly amazing things for patients and their families.
As Mum would say...you are all great little poppets! ;-)
Thanks for the support JJ x
