Story

Dear All,

I have decided to run the 2017 London Marathon in order to raise money for Phabkids who support children with a range of disabilities and complex needs, enabling them to experience and enjoy greater independence and freedom.

An extract from their website:

During 2016 we provided the opportunity for even more children and young people to attend than ever before. Over 160 children and young people aged 8 to 25, most of them with disabilities or disadvantaged in some way and many away from home for the first time, are taking part in our programme of nine challenging and fun residential projects at accessible outdoor activity centres around the country.

Our Integrated Living Experience and Skills for Independence projects help to build confidence, independence and self-esteem whilst breaking down barriers and building friendships, all through a range of fun and challenging activities. They make a big difference to the lives of the children and young people themselves but also to their families.

This is going to be a massive challenge to me and although I have run the Dublin Marathon before; as a result of 3 years at uni I am in in a much worse condition now than I was back then. Having said this I am committing to my training and am aiming to run the marathon in 3:30. Please get behind me and this incredible charity, I'm going to need all the support I can get!

I will of course keep you updated with how the training is going!

Best wishes and a massive thank you in advance,

Jack
