Story
Well I did it! Not the most proficient abseil ever but once I got over the terror of leaning out backward at 80ft in the air it was surprisingly enjoyable!
Thank you to the amazing people who have donated to our cause - the fundraising is still open if anyone else would like to contribute to this amazing charity.
Dons Local Action Group was formed by volunteers at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak to support those in need with food and /or other essentials.
With rising inflation, energy fees and costs of living this support is needed more than ever. I feel lucky to live a comfortable life but living so close by are families who are really struggling and living in food poverty – that’s why I want to help in any way I can.
Thanks to donations, every month Dons Local Group volunteers are able to collect, package and redistribute...1200 food boxes to households, 2000 food boxes to food bank partners, 25 laptops to children and 20 items of furniture to those who need it. Dons Local Action Group needs funding to keep their van moving, their hub functioning and their operation sustainable so that they can continue keeping our community fed, supported and connected as quickly as possible.
I’m also delighted to say that Dons Local Action Group is this year’s
nominated charity for Wimbledon Common Golf Club, of which I’m proud to be Ladies’ Captain 2022. So this event will hopefully get our fundraising efforts off to a great start.
