Story
Dear friends and family,
The weather was glorious. Cambridge is a lovely place to run and the atmosphere was great. I had the best of support from Gilly, Saj and my parents waving and cheering me on at several points around the 13.1 mile route. A huge thank you for your donations and support. We have raised a fantastic amount of money for the Cavernoma Alliance, which we are all thrilled about and extremely grateful.
Thank you everybody, we couldn't do it without you.

Origional blurb below.
Here is the what? and the Why? And whatever the weather, I shall deal with the How?
A Cavernoma is a blackberry type growth made up of abnormal blood vessels which develops usually on the brain. It causes a problem when it bleeds or swells, which can produce a number of symptoms including ataxia, which means loss of full control of bodily movements; diplopia, which is visual impairment (double vision) and dysarthria, meaning the partial loss of the ability to vocalise words. The symptoms can disappear after a while, but sometimes the sufferer is left with some or all of them permanently.
It is a difficult illness to live with as the sufferer never quite knows when something will happen next or what symptoms will have to be dealt with. It can often make the individual feel isolated and helpless.
The Cavernoma Alliance is a charity set up to support sufferers, helping them to appreciate they are not alone. It also raises awareness of and is involved in the much needed research into this condition.
A very special friend of mine was diagnosed with Brainstem Cavernoma in 2002 and has quietly dealt with her suffering of many symptoms over the years, some of which she has been left with long term, probably permanently. She is quite an amazing person and I feel I have no right to complain about life’s little obstacles. After all these years of her having to live with this condition, some days worse than others, I felt it was about time I did something to help, which I am doing by supporting this much needed charity.
Therefore, I intend to run the Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 11 March 2012 and would very much appreciate it if you would consider sponsoring me?
Many thanks
