Story
For my birthday month (June) I am going to be doing a fundraiser walk for “Genetic Disorders UK” a charity that supports Children and families with rare genetic conditions.
Some of you may already know that last year I was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Loeys-Dietz- which started in me from birth- so rare only 500 people in the world are known to have it. This condition means I am at a very high risk of suffering aneurysms (internal bleeds) at a young age. This has been a shock for me and my family especially during an already hard year with the pandemic and preparing for Uni. With my family’s support and the few people that knew, I eventually got through it. I am lucky in some ways now as I’m on medication and it’s being monitored. There are some limits now I have to abide by such as no strained heavy lifting and no extraneous sports.
With all this in mind, and the amount many of you will know I have walked in lockdown. I am challenging myself to walk 150 miles within the 30 days of June, (about 5 miles a day, I may exceed my target) in aid of “Genetic Disorders UK”. In order to support children in my predicament of unexpected diagnosis or in less fortunate circumstances. I would appreciate any sponsorship you can afford to help me raise some money through ‘just giving’ or in-person. Please feel free to share the link too. Thank you.🙂
