So this happened...

In July I will be running a double marathon. Why? 

• 52 is a great and appropriate number
• I thought I’d run a marathon to raise some money for a cause and I couldn’t decide between two causes, answer run two marathons...and then I found two marathons with a little added on

Gamekeepers make a huge positive difference to my life and my dogs’ lives. Without one of the hardest working groups of people I know, our sport/hobby/business, whatever it is to you, quite simply wouldn’t exist. Too many people just assume the tireless work gets done. Gamekeepers work incredibly hard. It is recognised as a physically demanding job due to the hours and the size of the ‘office’. It is also one of the most mentally demanding working environments. Many gamekeepers and their families graft and suffer in silence and alone. They need a huge amount of support, much more than we currently give them as users of their talents and services. @thegamekeeperswelfaretrust does a brilliant brilliant job in this regard. Running has also given me the space, time and clarity to work through some of my mental health issues, yes like many of you I have had to fight demons.

So for now it’s the encouragement to train more specifically having built up a foundation of fitness. It’s a serious challenge, yet to help people who are less fortunate than me it’s time to put my body and mind to the test. But now I have told people there is no turning back...
