Story

1 in 4 people suffers from mental health issues. I have witnessed the cracks within the mental health system and it breaks my heart seeing people deteriorate and not being able to access the help they desperately need. Lambeth and Southwark Mind seeks to address these inequalities and improve the mental health within my local community. They especially provide focussed services to those within the ethnic minority community, which is much needed.
With the pandemic, there has been cuts in funding and donations however the pressure on mental health services is ever growing, especially now.

To support this local charity, I will be embarking on the journey of running the London Marathon this 2021. I am absolutely terrified but here we are! Please support and come along my fitness journey! Miracles do happen!

Thanks you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and please donate! Much peace and blessings to you!

About the charity

We're a local mental health charity that are doing things differently. We aim to be an organisation that responds sensitively and thoughtfully to people with mental health problems; that understands that mental health problems are deeply entrenched in the inequalities and deprivations of class, race, gender and sexuality. We don’t believe that these problems can be treated by a ‘one size fits all’ approach, but instead need a unique and ethical response to the individual needs of each person. We aim to respond to high levels of need in the Lambeth adn Southwark boroughs by offering a range of services so people can choose the support that feels right for them. Currently, we run a free inner city psychotherapy service for people who haven't found short term CBT type treatments helpful. We run a number of peer support groups. We have an information line for those seeking advice. We're on wards making sure impatients have a voice too. We hold annual lectures with industry experts to explore recent develops. We're out and about in the local community listening to what people need.
