Story
After years of thinking about whether or not to run a marathon, I've finally lost my mind and decided to it. I'll run in the Brussels Marathon on Sunday 2nd October and thought it would be a good idea to use the event to raise money for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust as I'm a great believer in social mobility.
Stephen Lawrence was murdered in a racist attack in 1993. It became apparent that the case was mishandled due to issues concerning race. After several years it was agreed that a public inquiry would be held which led to changes in the police and the criminal justice system. Although two of the perpetrators were convicted nearly 20 years after the attack, the other five have never been brought to justice.
The Lawrence family have strived for many things which include the creation of the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Foundation. The charity provides support to young people from financially disadvantaged backgrounds so they can pursue careers in architecture and other professions.
I do believe that access to education can change lives, and this charity is doing all it can to help young people access various careers.
It would be great if you could provide a donation.
