Story
A team of 5 family and friends of Sam are climbing Slieve Donard to raise vital funds for the NI based charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI, the only local charity dedicated to fighting blood cancer, and allow their research and trials to continue to help those affected by blood cancer.
Sam was diagnosed at the age of 42, with T-Cell Lymphoma, stage 2 in May 14, which then progressed aggressively to stage 4b in May15. He has since undergone 12 chemo sessions and 34 radiotherapy treatments and received an Allogenic Stem Cell transplant on 1st April16.
Sams amazing attitude to life has got him, his family and friends through a very tough few years. He is now managing through Chronic Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD). Where the bone marrow still is not functioning fully and therefore he has to attend hospital weekly for transfusions and is due to start additional treatment to move things forward.
We want to help raise funds for this charity as they are a local charity dedicated to fighting blood cancer and work closely with our local universities and Cancer Centre in the Belfast City hospital where Sam is a patient and becoming one of the regulars, often joking that they will be giving him a rent book soon!
We have chosen this opportunity to challenge ourselves in an effort to show our support and any donation will be to a great cause for a great charity!
