Story
Last year I volunteered with the Pankhurst Centre, helping to document events in response to the centenary of some women getting the vote in 1918, for their Centenary City project (the exhibition is on at the PC until 10th March). It feels like such a privilege to have this wonderful museum and historical building - the home of Emmeline Pankhurst and her family, and the birthplace of women's suffrage in the UK - in my wonderful city.
This experience and the growth of women's movements all over the world over the past few years have left me inspired and opened my eyes to the plight of women everywhere. The Pankhurst Trust (Incorporating Manchester Women's Aid) works hard to promote equality for women and supporting and educating women who are on hard times - survivors of domestic abuse, living with mental/physical illness, etc. They provide an number of services for women, which you can read more about on their website (https://www.pankhursttrust.org/about-us).
The Pankhurst Trust runs entirely on donations and every penny helps towards maintaining The Pankhurst Centre and raising awareness and support for domestic abuse survivors.
I'd love to reach £240 to celebrate my 24th birthday, however any amount that you can donate will be greatly appreciated. Thank you ♡
Love, Jasmine x
